Computationally-Efficient Model Predictive Control of Dual-Output Multilevel Converter in Hybrid Microgrid

This article presents a hybrid microgrid configuration with flying capacitor dual-output (FCDO) converter. The output ports of the FCDO converter can directly interface ac sources/loads operating at different amplitudes and frequencies without additional ac/dc/ac units. Compared to conventional configuration, operates multilevel voltages, reduced power conversion stages, less switch count, fewer control loops. also cascaded model predictive (CMPC) algorithm for such variables, namely three-phase currents, ac/dc bus FC active/reactive power. proposed CMPC sequentially executes multiple single-objective MPC units adaptive dynamic reference (ADR) models multivariable. controller first obtains optimum voltage vector each port by minimizing current errors, where ADR generates appropriate references. Finally, identifies state from determined pair errors. Unlike MPC, reduces computational burden attains multivariable loops weighting factors. Furthermore, converter's performance is validated experimentally on low-power microgrid.
